10 in 2010
Near the door above the light switch in my office is a sign that simply reads, “Believe.” This sign is a reminder each day as I leave my office to focus on the positive and have faith that what I set my mind to can be achieved. At a time when job loss is at a record high, the economy is suffering and businesses are impacted daily, this sign has more meaning than ever for the work we do at Moore Consulting Group—whether it is an advocacy campaign to ensure Congress passes responsible health reform or helping a local small business rebrand their image to resonate stronger with evolving target audiences in a changing marketplace.
As we neared the end of 2009, our team at Moore Consulting Group wanted to provide something bigger in the New Year to this great community we all call home. The idea of “10 in 2010,” a series of pro bono events to reach Tallahassee-area organizations, was born. The need for this program came to light after a meeting with a community organization led by a friend. She asked if she could bring several board members to spend an hour talking about some of their communications challenges. After almost two hours of great conversation, exchange of ideas and creative brainstorming, the board members left with some new marketing ideas and clear direction on next steps. I left the meeting feeling really good about giving back, and energized by how the ideas generated in this one session will continue to impact our community through the work of this important organization. And that’s how 10 in 2010 came to life.
After months of planning, I’m thrilled to see the initiative come to life today. Partnering with the Tallahassee Democrat and the Greater Tallahassee Chamber of Commerce, we will choose 10 companies this year to spend an afternoon strategizing and brainstorming solutions to their communications challenges. We will meet with one business or organization each month (with the exception of July and December) for this Branding Academy. The opportunities for where each session will go are endless for the participating companies and the community; companies will receive guidance in achieving their mission and maximizing their resources, as well as the opportunity for media and community exposure.
We invite you to complete an application form for a chance to be among the 10 organizations that will be selected. Be sure to follow us on Tallahassee.com and here on our blog as we document the progress and take the journey this year to help 10 local companies reach their communications goals.
Believe in the possibilities of the New Year! I hope to see you soon at one of the 10 in 2010 programs.
